1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the BuzzCopper website (test-www.buzzcopper.org) and any related services, products, or content provided through it.

BuzzCopper is a project operated in association with Asian Hornet Alert, a not-for-profit organisation. References to "we", "us", or "our" refer to Asian Hornet Alert and the BuzzCopper project.

By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website. We may update these Terms from time to time — continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Use of the Website

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not:

• Infringe the rights of any other person
• Restrict or inhibit anyone else's use of the website
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, servers, or databases
• Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful material
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest content without permission
• Submit false, misleading, or spam content through any form

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for anyone who breaches these Terms.

4. Orders and Payments

When you place an order through the BuzzCopper shop:

• All prices are displayed in British Pounds (GBP) and include VAT where applicable
• Prices are approximate and subject to change until the point of payment
• Payment is processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your card details
• An order confirmation email will be sent upon successful payment
• We reserve the right to cancel orders if products are unavailable or pricing errors occur

4.1 Preorders

Preorder registrations are expressions of interest and do not constitute a binding purchase agreement. No payment is taken at the point of preorder registration. You will be contacted when products are available to purchase.

4.2 Refunds

As a not-for-profit project, all products are sold at cost. We will honour your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If a product is faulty or not as described, please contact us within 30 days of receipt for a replacement or refund.

5. Intellectual Property

The content on this website — including text, images, graphics, logos, and page layout — is owned by or licensed to Asian Hornet Alert and protected by UK copyright law.

BuzzCopper hardware designs, firmware, and software are released under open-source licences as specified in the relevant repositories. You are free to use, modify, and distribute open-source components in accordance with their respective licence terms.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from website content (excluding open-source components) without prior written permission.

6. Detection Device Usage

The BuzzCopper detection device is designed to assist in identifying Asian Hornets. By using a device, you agree that:

• The device provides automated detections which should be verified by a human before reporting to authorities
• Detection accuracy depends on environmental conditions, bait quality, and device placement
• We are not responsible for missed detections or false positives
• You will place devices responsibly and in accordance with local regulations
• Detection images and location data may be shared with the CATCH network and relevant authorities for conservation purposes

7. Sighting Data

Sighting data uploaded by BuzzCopper devices (including images and GPS coordinates) becomes part of the CATCH detection network. This data may be:

• Displayed on the public sighting map (location data only — no personal information)
• Shared with the National Bee Unit (APHA) for biosecurity response
• Used for research and conservation purposes
• Retained indefinitely for scientific and historical record

8. Third-Party Links

This website contains links to external websites (including Asian Hornet Alert, CATCH, Stripe, and government agencies). We are not responsible for the content, availability, or privacy practices of these external sites. Accessing them is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

This website and the BuzzCopper device are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Asian Hornet Alert shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from:

• Use or inability to use the website or device
• Inaccurate detection results
• Data loss or security breaches
• Service interruptions or website downtime

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Asian Hornet Alert and the BuzzCopper project team from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the website or device.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Severability
