During 2025 BuzzCopper v1 was trialled successfully in the South-East of England. We are currently developing BuzzCopper v2 which we hope expect to have ready for sale in late spring 2026. The price is likely to be less than £25 but this has not yet been finalised. If you live in a high-risk area and are interested in purchasing a BuzzCopper v2 to use yourself please send a pre-order email to Asian Hornet Alert and we will contact you when we are able to supply you. If you buy a BuzzCopper you will receive a BuzzCopper v2 device that you can hang up in your garden with instructions on how to use it.

You will need to provide bait (attractant) every few days but the instructions will include a recipe for a suitable bait and also commercial sources.

You will also need to place it with access to WiFi or visit it regularly with a mobile WiFi hotspot (e.g. your phone) to harvest any sightings.

If you are a beekeeper please check first with the AHAT at your local club as we are pursuing grants to provide a limited number of free devices to all clubs and particularly those in high-risk areas.
